5 Cool Things You Can Add To Your Chicken Run

A chicken run is a fenced area where your chickens can roam freely and safely. It is important to have a chicken run because it allows your chickens to get some exercise and fresh air while still being protected from predators.

Adding some cool things to your chicken run can make it an even more fun and enjoyable place for your chickens. Here are 5 cool things you can add to your chicken run.

1. A Swing

Chickens love to swing! You can easily add a swing to your chicken run by attaching a rope or chain to a tree branch or beam. Be sure to use a strong and durable rope or chain that can support the weight of your chickens.

Also, be sure that the swing is not too high off the ground so that your chickens do not injure themselves when they jump off.

2. A Sandbox

Chickens love to dig in the sand and take dust baths. Adding a sandbox to your chicken run will give them a place to do this without making a mess of your yard.

You can make your own sandbox by repurposing an old plastic storage bin or child's sandbox. Just be sure to put some sand in it for them to enjoy!

3. A Garden

What better way to let your chickens enjoy the outdoors than by adding a garden to their chicken run?

This will give them a place to forage for bugs and legumes as well as scratch around in the dirt. You can create a small garden by planting some vegetables or herbs in raised beds or containers. Just be sure that the plants you choose are safe for chickens to eat!

4. A Water Feature

Chickens love water! Adding a water feature such as a small pond or waterfall will give them a place to cool off on hot days.

Be sure that the water feature is shallow enough so that your chickens cannot drown, and put a fence around it so that they cannot escape from the chicken run.

5. A Playground

Chickens are very playful creatures! Creating a playground for them in their chicken run will give them hours of fun and entertainment.

Some ideas for playground equipment include climbing ropes, ladders, perches, and tunnels. Be sure that all of the equipment is safe and securely attached so that your chickens cannot hurt themselves.

Adding some cool things to your chicken run will make it an even more fun and enjoyable place for your chickens.

Be sure to choose items that are safe and secure so that your chickens cannot injure themselves. Have fun creating a space for your feathered friends to enjoy!
